      Growing Engagements                                                             Workshop

Important Events, Seminars and Symposium- January to May 2019

A video conferencing was conducted on 4th February 2019 with District and State Ganga Committees to discuss various issues regarding rejuvenation of
river Ganga particularly, the progress of various projects in various districts across Ganga and its tributaries. The video conferencing program was chaired
by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation along with Secretary, Water Resources, River
Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, DG, NMCG and other officials of NMCG. During this conference discussion were held with District Magistrate and
other officials of the district and the state at 46 nodes wherein the District Administration was requested to closely monitor the progress of projects under
'Namami Gange' as also to ensure public participation in these projects. The Hon'ble Minister asked the Ganga Committees to ensure waste recycling and to
segregate the waste for its proper disposal. The district and state administration were also asked to ensure sewer household connections.

A one-day workshop was conducted jointly by National Mission for Clean Ganga and Swacch Bharat Mission (Urban), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on
9th January 2019 on the subject Solid Waste Management in Ganga Towns at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre. This workshop which was attended by
Municipal Commissioners of 97 Ganga towns and State Government officials was addressed by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister Water Resources, River
Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon'ble Minister of State (IC), Housing and Urban Development, Shri Durga Shankar Mishra,
Secretary MoHUA, Shri U.P. Singh, Secretary, MoWR, RD & GR and Shri Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, DG, NMCG. A report of Quality Council of India (QCI) was released
on third party inspection on the status of Solid Waste Management in the 97 Ganga towns.

A Concession Agreement was signed for comprehensive Sewerage                       National Mission for Clean Ganga showcased its projects, initiatives and
Infrastructure Project in Prayagraj, which is being developed under Hybrid         achievements in the 'Namami Gange' stall at the 'Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas'
Annuity Mode and One City One operator concept. The agreement was signed           held in Varanasi from 21st to 23rd January 2019. The exhibition was visited
on 11th January 2019 between UP Jal Nigam, NMCG and Prayagraj Water                by a number of NRIs and PIOs as also by children who took keen interest in
Private Limited in the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister, WR, RD &  the project specially the model of Dinapur STP, Varanasi.
GR and Hon'ble CMs of Delhi, Haryana, UP, HP, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

NMCG in collaboration with Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)             Professor Jagan Shah, eminent Urban Expert and Former Director, National
organized a one-day workshop on 19th February 2019 on PTB Ganges                   Institute of Urban Affairs during an interactive session at NMCG on
project 'Strengthening of Water Quality Monitoring of Ganga' at NMCG               challenges and opportunities associated with Urban Planning. The
headquarters in New Delhi along with various stakeholders like CPCB,               interactive session which was held on 4th April 2019 was also attended by
SPMGs, State Pollution Control Boards, C-Ganga, National Institute of              noted Ecologist from Uttarakhand and Padam Shri Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi.
